A ground source heat pump includes a few main components: an outdoor ground loop system and an indoor heat pump unit. Here’s a breakdown of each part and what it typically looks like:

Ground Loop System (Outdoor)

  • The ground loop system itself is not visible, as it’s buried beneath the ground. It consists of pipes made of durable plastic tubing that are either laid in horizontal trenches or in vertical boreholes.
